How To Embrace Web 2.0 - Part 2 - Create A Web 2.0 Marketing Plan
Create A Web 2.0 Marketing Plan
I am presuming you have all been PARTICIPATING, following the seven tips on Web 2.0 and Social Bookmarking on my previous post.
You still have 6 other strategies to implement, and creating a plan is an important step. I say CREATING a plan with the emphasis on the word CREATIVE. The successful Web 2.0 Internet Marketer of the future will likely be the ones who break from traditional marketing ideas and step out of the box, weaving creative ideas in their business.
Imagine how boring the Internet would become if it was just another avenue to deliver some junk mail, gather leads, place some advertising and pitch to potential customers. You need to get your head around the idea that the Internet is more than just another marketing avenue to dish out the same old stuff of yonder years.
It is useful to step back and think strategically about where and how you’re going to commit your marketing resources online. Tap into the creativity of your staff and users to create a social media marketing plan. Look at your marketing, customer service, and website for natural opportunities and synergies for social media marketing.
Open your mind to radical new ideas that fit the nature of social media. For instance, let your audience create content on your site and pass it along. Try a photo captioner service where they (or you) can submit local photos, add captions, and then share links or send the new photo as a postcard to their friends. Or invite your passionate users to create promotional videos about your product/service, then use them on your local TV channels and post them online everywhere.
If you have been doing Internet Marketing for some time, there is a good chance you are stuck in a time warp as far as your internet marketing plan go.
TOP TIP THAT WILL GIVE YOU THE MOST CREATIVE MARKETING IDEAS ON THE PLANET.
1) EMPLOY A KID
Seriously! Here’s what I did. I got myself a 16 year old school kid, looking for work experience, and sat him in my office next to me. I just showed him stuff I was doing, and mentioned that I didn’t really know too much about facebook and myspace. This 16 year old kid was so enthusiastic about the concept of social marketing, and he seemed to know all about it. You see the youngsters are using the Internet in this way all the time, so it is like second nature to them. In three days he had sourced me more ‘friends’ on myspace (manually) than I could ever of hoped for. He came up with idea after idea – half of which I found hard to understand, but they were great ideas.
Now I hope I do not get in trouble for nudging my readers to go running out and create a slave labour problem – but employing a young ‘geek’ will give you enough ‘out-of-the-box ideas’ to make some radical movements in your Web 2.0 marketing strategy.
